Laboratory (Water) Testing

NCHD environmental health staff collect and/or analyze water samples from private drinking water wells for coliform bacteria and nitrate. Staff also collect water samples for “well water series” analysis at the State Public Health Laboratory in Jefferson City . This series includes lead, cadmium, and other heavy metals. The fee for collecting water well series samples is $25.

Private water samples may be submitted for testing Monday thru Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Bottles for water samples may be obtained Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cost per bottle is $15 for bacteriological testing, and $5 for nitrate, due at the time of submission for testing. Water Sample Procedures

Private water samples may be submitted for testing Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Water Test Bottles for water samples may be obtained Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. The cost per bottle for testing is $15.00 for bacteria testing and $5.00 for nitrate due at the time of submission for testing. Samples may also be mailed to the Environmental Lab, PO Box 2505, Springfield, MO 65801-2505. Please include $15.00 cash, check or money order for each water sample submitted. Please do not mail cash.
